WINERY
BACKGROUND
The original winery was a
small building in the town of Oyón built in 1889.
Here, the founding family member, Joaquin Martínez
Bujanda fermented grapes from his own small plot of vineyards.
In 1951 production was moved to a new, larger facility.
In 1995, the winery was remodeled, transforming it into
the ultra modern facility that operates today.
THE VINEYARDS
The high investment and avant-garde
technology employed in our winery makes no sense without
good practices in the vineyards. Achieving the fresh, elegant
of wine to which we aspire demands constant communication
between the winery and our vineyard suppliers. We offer
advanced levels of technical support to our long term grape
suppliers and our technicians are involved from the flowering
of the vine, through the harvest and on to the production
of the wine itself. We believe that uniting modern technology
with the traditional methods of viticulture and vinification
allows us to realize the full potential of each grape variety.
VINIFICATION
The new edition of this venerable
producer consists of a pavilion where long term bottle aging
and stocking of the final product will take place. This
facility has a capacity of 2,000,000 bottles. They have
also added a basement plant for barrel aging with a capacity
of 4,000 Bordeaux barrels, each holding 225 liters all made
of American Oak, as well as a pavilion for storage in stainless
steel tanks that totals 3,745,000 liters in capacity. Lastly
they now have a modern stabilization plant containing seven
isotherm tanks, each of which holds 25,000 liters.
